Security Forces Repel an Attempt to Kill a Journalist in Baghdad.

Iraqi security and military forces repelled, Sunday evening, an attempt of assassinating Saif al-Khayyat, journalist, near al-Firdaws Square in Baghdad.

 

Hadi Jello Maree, JFO head aide said that he was close to al-Khayyat when unknown armed men started shooting towards him, but the army checkpoint and the police patrol interrupted the attackers and one of the soldiers tried to stop the white passed car of the attackers, but they ran away heading Sadoon street direction.

 

Al-Khayyat told the JFO that "the attackers shot bullets from their rifles towards me, but the police and army men compelled them to run away",
Al-Khayyat told the JFO that he lately published many articles about local issues in which he revealed so many hidden cases.

JFO highly evaluates the stance of the police and army counting it a progress in the performance of the security forces to protect the journalists. The JFO has encouraged activating such stances in more than one occasions.
